Wellness for nature-lovers

The Wellness Hotel Diedrich in the Hochsauerland region has been around for more than 110 years. The family business is located in the centre of Hallenberg – a small village with half-timbered buildings, surrounded by the rocky mountains of the Rothaargebirge. The area has much to offer those interested in culture and nature-lovers. After going on a hiking tour or after a trip with a mountain bike, you can relax in the column spa. Those of you who find the usual sauna temperatures too high can benefit from the Roman sweat bath – called a tecaldarium. This type of sauna helps to stabilize your circulation and strengthens your immune system. The sauna is heated to a mere 39 degrees and can be visited in clothing. However, you will also find the so-called baths in the illuminated whirlpool warming and pleasant. Starlight effects integrated in the bath create a cosy atmosphere: Whilst powerful jets of water massage the body along its lymph channels at the same time, aromas arising from the water inspire the mind.


Environment

in Hallenberg – the most southern city in the Hochsauerland region, North Rhine-Westphalia. It owes its name to the spur on which it is situated. It runs along an acclivity to the estuaries of the rivulets Nuhne and Weife. The peaceful, rural area with its wooded hillsides offers enjoyment of nature in its essence.

Hallenberg offers a large number of leisure activities all year round. You can discover wild herbs during guided hiking tours, enjoy the distant view over the mountains from the Sauerland-Stabil-Stuhl (an oversized wooden chair-like platform) or get to know the history of ice mining in the region. In the Bike Arena Sauerland, you can discover the area by bike and the Nordic Walking Park Hallenberg provides the ideal conditions to exercise outdoors. The climbing region Steinschab has a special experience in store: Both beginners and experienced climbers can dabble in climbing the 50-metre steep face. The winter sports towns of Willingen and Winterberg are not far from Hallenberg – perfect for skiers and snow hikers. As Hallenberg is on the border to Hessen, it is definitely worth visiting the university town of Marburg and the Marburg castle or the town of Frankenberg with its historical town hall, the former Cistercian monastery and the Thonet Museum. There is a golf course 12 kilometres from Hallenberg.

The wellness hotel that is now being run in the fourth generation is located in a natural landscape that makes it possible to actively relax outdoors with its kilometres of hiking and cycling trails. The spacious spa area guarantees a warm wellness atmosphere with its column spa, tecaldarium, sauna, steam bath and relaxation room. Treatment begins with a vitalizing foot bath, the effect of which can unfold during a head and foot massage, and ends with extensive facial treatment. The hotel’s kitchen, which spoils its guests with regional treats, caters for the subsequent culinary indulgence.
