Fontana Resort Bad Nieuweschans ****

A feast for all the senses...
The Hotel Fontana in Nieuweschans holds many small surprises: A wonderful scent wafts from the lavender sauna, and there are regular art exhibitions in the "dressing gown park" ("Bademantelpark")... the house offers specialties to be enjoyed with all the senses.
At the heart of the house is a large thermal swimming pool in the exterior area of the house. The water has a temperature of 36 degrees Celsius and a high salt content, which makes the body weightless, taking pressure of muscles and joints and relieving pain. The Hotel Fontana is the first spa centre in the Netherlands, in the province of Frisia. It was built in 1985, after the discovery of a fountain containing a wealth of minerals such as salt, magnesium, iodine and bromide. These minerals make up the basis for the thermal spa and also give the hotel its name: Fontana. A bridge connects the house directly to the city centre.
